This course is designed to introduce participants to the mathematics-related aspects of music, including overtones, scales, tuning systems, the musical dice games
of Mozart and Haydn, the old English style of bell-ringing and other topics involving mathematical ideas from probability theory to group theory. The only requirements for the course are an interest in and enthusiasm for both Mathematics and Music, as
the mathematical and musical concepts are described in an elementary way.
The course will take place at St Augustine College on Saturday 01 October and
Saturday 08 October 2016 from 09:00 to 17:00.
